11:12 pm - Stargate: Atlantis has been cancelled?
|
What the fuck?
I heard that they've cancelled this totally awesome show to make way for the most definitely-going-to-be-crap Stargate: Universe and I am seriously about to LOSE MY SHIT.
What the fuck?
I love this damn show. I have invested time, and money (lots of money, DVD's aren't cheap and I AM A FUCKING STUDENT) and now they decide to cancel it even though it's getting good ratings and has been getting better every season since it first started and oh my God could I please remember to use some fucking punctuation. Apparently not. I am very displeased.

9:32 pm - Christina Concert
|
I got in touch with my inner teeny-bopper last night. I went to the Christina Aguilera, Back to Basics concert. She was awesome. And very much pregnant.
We all went stupid when she sung Candyman and I seriously cried when she sung Beautiful. Mainly because I hadn't eaten since noon so my emotions were a little over the place and also because there were all these great looking guys there but they were nearly all gay. So that was kind of depressing. But it rocked anyway.

4:56 pm - Approaching Summer (scattered thoughts)
|
Blah.
I am the laziest be-yutch of late. I have been seriously ignoring my LJ duties. Oh well.
I have to get a summer job. Not making enough money right now.
I miss Stargate: Atlantis. Why must they tease us so? With all the breaks and that?
I am sick of screenplaywrights teasing us with The Romance. I want Meredith and Derek to get together properly and stop this, "I'm not ready" "But I'm not ready" "I think I might be ready" "I was wrong I'm not ready" bullshit. Ditto to Prison Break. I don't know how Dr. Sara can stand to be so close to Michael and not refrain from the bonking.
Bah.
Got my hair cut. Is very blonde now. As you know, opposed to the previous blonde it was ... which wasn't as ... blonde. o_O
Two more exams to go then 2nd year of uni is OVAH. Hurrah! Hope I pass eveything. It'd be a bitch to fail something now, after having NOT failed thus far.
Gah.
Am going to listen to iPod. Shuffle is king.

2:10 pm - An Interesting Article
|
Normally I steer clear of the Harry Potter articles at Mugglenet. They tend to be a whole lot of waffle with prententious losers crapping on about what they wish would happen rather than what is likely too. But this article I found quite insightful ... even though I didn't agree with all of it.
It discusses the opposing trio to our heroes. Voldemort, Snape & Draco. Have a read, I think you'll enjoy it!

10:34 am - Researching Slashers
|
O M G !
They have done STUDIES on us. I SHIT YOU NOT. I was researching some shit for my Psychology assignment on an academic database when I suddenly thought it would be really funny if I looked up Harry Potter and how funny would it be if there was an article on teh sex.
AND THERE WAS. Several. And some of them WAS RESEARCHING SLASHERS AND WHO WE ARE AND WHY WE DID IT. They interviewed these women and ALL. I would give you linkage but it appears you need passwords and shit to get on the databases. But if anyone goes to uni, go on Academic Search Premier. You normally access it through your uni's internet library.
OMG.
"THE CONTENT of Harry Potter slash derives from the pairing of any two characters and the creation of a story for them, and almost every conceivable pairing (including extra-human ones) has been explored. Some of the pairings take off from those already in the books, such as that of Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, who are obviously close emotionally and who both lack a known history of heterosexual relationships. In Order of the Phoenix, the two live together and give Harry a joint Christmas present. But by far the two most common pairings involve Harry and the two people he likes the least in the books. The first is with Draco Malfoy, Harry's perpetual foil. Draco is rich, spoiled, occasionally cruel, and frequently petty, and he's a member of Slythedn House. Harry, by contrast, is poor, generally well-meaning, and noble, and he belongs to Gryffindor House. Harry and Draco have the same position on their house sports teams, but Harry got there based on skill, whereas Draco got there through bribery. There's even a deliberate contrast in their looks: Draco is grey-eyed and fair while Harry is green-eyed and dark. Harry's second most popular pairing is with Severus Snape. Snape is a teacher, head of Slytherin House, and the same age as Harry's late father. He's a complicated and largely unsympathetic figure, has a past as a Dark wizard, and may or may not still be on the side of the series' evil Other, Lord Voldemort. He treats Harry unfairly, motivated at least in part by the fact that Harry's father bullied him when they were at school together, but has saved Harry's life on at least one occasion. He is "Harry's least favorite person at Hogwarts. Harry's loathing of Snape was matched only by Snape's hatred of him" {Goblet of Fire). The output for this pairing, only recently classified as "rareslash," has exploded in recent years. The choice for Malfoy and Snape by hundreds, if not thousands, of slash writers undoubtedly relates to the sheer intensity of emotion—albeit negative emotion—surrounding Harry's relationship with these two characters. When turned into slash fiction, this antipathy must be negotiated and reinterpreted in order for a romantic relationship to make sense. Some writers sidestep the problem by writing so-called "Plot What Plot" stories, usually frankly pornographic tales with little other action than sex. Most, however, take the development of the relationship from mutual hatred to mutual love or lust as their main theme.

3:32 pm - Music is the food of life.
|
I cannot get this song out of my head. So I thought maybe if I write the lyrics down here, it'll help.
*~*
So it goes another lonely day You're saving time but you're miles away Your flowers drowning in some bitter tea Forseeing lost opportunity Find your mirror Go and look inside See the talent you always hide Don't go kid yourself, well not today Satisfaction's not far away
Hold on now, your exit's here It's waiting just for you Don't pause too long It's fading now It's ending all too soon you'll see Soon you'll see
Your coffee's warm but your milk is sour Life is short but you're here to flower Dream yourself along another day Never miss opportunity Don't be scared of what you cannot see Your only fear is possibility Never wonder what the hell went wrong Your second chance may never come along
Hold on now, your exit's here It's waiting just for you Don't pause too long It's fading now It's ending all too soon you'll see Soon you'll see
*~*

So things have sucked a bit lately. I just need to vent a bit and if any of you feel like offering your pity, I will swallow it all - pride be damned.
My Grandpa died last Tuesday, and then my dog died the day after, and then it was my birthday. Which I literally forgot about. I have very nice friends though that bought me the first two seasons of Buffy to make me feel better. But it still sucks.
And OMG, I was unforgiveably rude to Hannah (emerald_dragon8). I'm so sorry, sweetie! :-(

I have been working way too much. I know this to be true because I have no where near as much time to fuck around doing shit all as I used to. *sigh*
I really want to see the second season of Stargate: Atlantis. Yes, I am a Sci-Fi freak. I re-watched all of the first season because beautiful Natalie brought it for me *loffs on*, and now I am all antsy for the second season. Like when Harry's about to come out.
I'm gonna go watch Zoolander.

Merry Christmas everyone! *Hugs f-list*
I have just snuck out of family Christmas lunch. Why must we host these horrid events? Why? My cousin, Alice, has already broken three of my lippys. Be-yutch. Ick, I've drunk too much Malibu. My typing is still good though. Hurrah!
Oh-oh ... better get back. They've started the drunken speeches. I hope my mum doesn't talk, she's had way too much Bailey's...

10:12 am - Racism
|
For those of you who aren't aware of the disgusting and embarassing display of racism in Cronulla, Australia click here.
I am mortified. I am gobsmacked. I am so disgusted it's not even funny. I cannot believe the hyde of some people. I mean, there were people wearing t-shirts with maps of Australia, and inside the maps "Fuck Off, We're Full". It's just so ... it makes me feel so icky. And it worries me so much because what if all of Australia is seen as racist because of these wankers? And what if all Lebanese people feel persecuted because of it? I wouldn't blame them if they did. It's ... words have finally failed.

OMG. Watch me gloat, it's quite disgusting ...
I passed everything! Even Psych where I guessed 45 questions out of 60 on the Stats exam.
O_o
SEE! The "when-in-doubt-go-'c'" approach does work! I got a High Distinction for Prof. Writing (obviously), Distinction for Philosophy (was NOT expecting that), Credit for Sociology (who cares) and a Pass for Psychology. Whoo-hoo! 'P' equals degree!
You see boys and girls, teachers are full of shit. You don't need to go to any lectures, and skipping tutes is alright too - YOU'LL STILL PASS. This is so awesome. I am celebrating by seeing Harry for the third time in five days - with Leah this time. Hurrah! Giant slurpie!
